Division 3: 18/19

Stockwood green reserves 1 - 2 Middlezoy Rovers reserves

The zoy travelled to Stockwood green on a grey and gloomy day. The pack was shuffled around the to injuries and a debut for Michael Haley. The visitors started well using the width of Jamie Temlett and Daniel Lismore to good effect, with Ryan Brewer and Adam Prescott supporting them. Middlezoy were bossing possession and creating half chances but nothing of merit, whilst the hosts always looked dangerous on the counter with pace up top. The breakthrough finally came 15 minutes before the break when the ball was worked well from Scott Rich's quick throw out to Prescott, who travelled to the halfway line and played in Lismore who put in a low cross and Jamie temlett powered the ball in at the back post. 0-1. With 5 minutes remaining Lismore had a chance to extend the lead but when it seemed easier to score he put it over the bar from 2 yards 🤦🏽‍♂️.
Middlezoy started the 2nd half where they left off and within 5 minutes of the restart had doubled their lead. A long throw in into the hosts box evaded 2 defenders for Steve Hall to head home from close range. 0-2 to the Mighty zoy. Stockwood became increasingly frustrated with late tackles and tempers flaring, However middlezoy stayed calm and stuck to their gameplan. Middlezoy had a couple of chances and if it weren't for the keeper pulling off some very good saves the score would have been more comfortable.
With the game becoming a bit of a battle, a booming clearance from stockwood managed to find it's way to the stockwood number 9 who beat Scott Rich to half the deficit. 1-2. Their tails now up the home side tried all they could but the steely determination and great shape of middlezoy kept them at bay to win another 3 points on the road.
